The Hills District is one of the better-resourced areas for family playgrounds in Greater Sydney — council investment has been consistently strong and several parks have adventure-level equipment. Here's the guide.

Castle Hill Bicentennial Park — Castle Hill

Best for: All ages

The best all-round park in the Hills District. The Bicentennial Park has a large adventure playground with equipment for different age groups, a separate BMX track, cycling and walking paths, open ovals, and BBQ facilities. It's spacious enough that it rarely feels crowded even on busy weekends.

Address: Victoria Avenue, Castle Hill Facilities: Toilets, BBQs, BMX track, cycling paths, multiple play areas

Bella Vista Farm Park — Bella Vista

Best for: Ages 2–10, sensory/nature play

Not a conventional playground — the farm park has open lawns, heritage buildings, and garden areas that work as natural play space. Kids can run around the farm grounds, explore the kitchen garden, and encounter the occasional free-range chicken or bird.

In spring, the park sometimes hosts strawberry picking events (small fee for picking), but the grounds are always free to enter and walk.

Address: Celebration Drive, Bella Vista Facilities: Open lawns, heritage buildings, some seating

Rouse Hill Regional Park — Rouse Hill

Best for: Ages 4+, open space and walking

A large open reserve with creek access, walking trails through the parkland, and good open space. The Rouse Hill Estate grounds (a National Trust heritage property) are free to walk. Better for kids who enjoy exploration and open space than structured playground equipment.

Address: Windsor Road, Rouse Hill Entry: Free Facilities: Some picnic areas, walking trails

Kellyville Park — Kellyville

Best for: Ages 3–12

A well-maintained neighbourhood park with good modern playground equipment and open lawns. Less of a destination than Bicentennial Park but a solid local option in the Kellyville area.

Address: Samantha Riley Drive, Kellyville Facilities: Toilets, open lawns

Glenhaven Regional Park — Glenhaven

Best for: Ages 4+, bushland exploration

A quieter bushland reserve on the eastern edge of the Hills District. The park has walking trails through native bushland and some picnic areas. Good for families who want a bush feel without driving to a national park.

Address: Glenhaven Road, Glenhaven Entry: Free

Getting to Hills District parks

Most of the Hills District is most easily accessed by car. The Metro North West Line (Castle Hill, Kellyville, Norwest, Rouse Hill stations) provides public transport access to the area, but parks are typically a 10–20 minute walk from stations.
