09 July Thur AI & Chess School Holiday Program for Kids - Chess Themed Camp

About this event

July School Holiday Program – AI + Chess Camp

Thu 9 July: Machine Learning · AI Detective

Join us for a fun and creative **AI + Chess Camp** during the July school holidays! This special one-day program combines hands-on AI learning in the morning with structured chess training in the afternoon. It is designed for students aged **8–13** who are curious about technology, creativity, problem-solving, and chess.

Morning AI Workshop: Machine Learning · AI Detective

In the morning, students will step into the world of **Machine Learning** and become little AI detectives!

Children will learn how AI can recognise and classify different images, such as identifying objects, characters, or patterns. Through fun and age-appropriate activities, they will train their very first AI model and test whether the AI can correctly recognise different images.

Students will explore: What they’ll learn: How AI recognises and classifies different images Tools: Visual AI learning platforms and a simple coding canvas What they’ll create: Their first AI model and a fun “test it yourself” AI project

This session is aligned with the **WAICY Showcase Track**, giving students an introduction to real-world AI project thinking in a fun and beginner-friendly way.

Afternoon Chess Workshop

After lunch, students will return to chess training, where they will be grouped by age and skill level.

Whether your child is new to chess or already has tournament experience, our coaches will provide suitable lessons and activities to help them improve.

Students may work on: Newcomers: Learning the chessboard, piece movement, captures, check, and checkmate basics Beginners: Practising simple tactics, opening principles, and basic checkmate patterns Intermediate & Advanced Players: Improving calculation, middlegame planning, positional understanding, and game analysis

The afternoon will include chess lessons, puzzles, practice games, and simple review, helping students apply what they learn in real games.
