Friday 10 July: Prompt Engineering + Chess Workshop
Come join us for a fun and creative AI + Chess Camp during the July school holidays! This special one-day program is designed for students aged 8–13 who want to explore how to “talk” to AI in the morning and sharpen their chess skills in the afternoon.
Students will enjoy a full day of structured learning, hands-on activities, chess training, puzzles, and supervised play in a supportive and engaging environment.
Morning AI Workshop: Prompt Engineering
In the morning, students will learn the basics of Prompt Engineering — how to ask AI clear, creative, and effective questions to get better answers.
This session is designed for beginners and young learners. Students do not need any prior AI or coding experience.
What students will learn: What a prompt is and why it matters How to “talk” to AI clearly and creatively How to improve AI answers by changing their questions How AI can help with writing, ideas, learning, and creativity Safe and responsible ways to use AI Tools and activities: Leading Large Language Models Guided prompt practice AI conversation challenges Creative question-building activities What students will create: Students will create their own AI conversation notebook, with useful prompts they can continue exploring at home.
This workshop is aligned with the WAICY LLM Track, giving students an early introduction to real AI competition-style thinking.
Afternoon Chess Workshop
After lunch, students will return to chess training and practical play. Our coaches will group students based on age and skill level, so every child can learn at the right pace.
Whether your child is a beginner or already has tournament experience, we will provide suitable lessons, puzzles, and games to help them improve.
Chess activities may include: Chess lessons by level Tactical puzzles and problem-solving Game practice with students of similar ability Coach feedback and simple game analysis Strategy training and fun chess challenges Group levels may include: Newcomers: Learn piece movement, basic rules, check, and checkmate Beginners: Build confidence with simple tactics, opening principles, and full-game practice Intermediate & Advanced Players: Work on calculation, middlegame planning, endgames, and tournament-style thinking
