The Ancient World: Greece
About this event
A Mini series of film in 8 segments. A Festival Hellenika event presented in association with the Hellenic Museum of Melbourne. Festival Hellenika proudly presents a Hellenic Museum (Melbourne) and an ABC Education production video series titled 'The Ancient World: Greece', an 8 part educational resource for students. Children and adults alike can learn and enjoy! The series is in both English and Greek.
This collaboration between the Hellenic Museum in Melbourne and ABC Education invites viewers to explore the fascinating everyday lives of the ancient Greeks. In this series, we will discover the best way to consult an oracle, learn how to appease the ancient gods, interrogate ancient social hierarchies, join seafaring adventures across the Mediterranean world and much more. Watch as the ancient world is brought to life through objects, animation and storytelling, inspiring young hellenes and philhellenes across Australia.
The series was written and presented by Dr Jo Clyne and Tom Harris from the Hellenic Museum in Melbourne. It was produced by Tim Purdie from ABC Education and animated by Luke Tribe. The Greek translation and voice-over was provided by Athanasia (Nancy) Karvouniari and Nikolaos Filippatos. The production crew would like to gratefully acknowledge the contribution of Annabel Astbury, Head of Education at the ABC who championed the series and Ivana Tsianos, Executive Officer of the Hellenic Studies Foundation who supported the translation of the series into the Greek language.
