National Simultaneous Storytime 2026

On Wednesday 27 May 2026 at 12.00 pm AEST, right across Australia, millions of children, parents, teachers and library lovers will come together to read Luna Roo at the same time — celebrating the joy of reading, storytelling and connection. Merri-bek Libraries will be part of this annual National Simultaneous Storytime celebration at Coburg Library from 11.45am. The book will also be read during regular storytime sessions during that week and this is an opportunity to promote Merri-bek Libraries early literacy programming.

Luna Roo was written by Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd, and illustrated by Jake Minton. The story follows the spirited kangaroo Luna and her friends as they chase their football dreams across the outback. A story of action, teamwork and fun to inspire young readers.
