Aboriginal Heritage Office healing plants talk

About this event

Listen to stories, see historical images and hear about Country, the talk will show change in the local area over time and share Aboriginal knowledge of caring for Country.

This is a special opportunity to learn, reflect and connect with the rich Aboriginal history of your local area.

Brought to you by Ku-ring-gai Council and presented by Karen Smith from the Aboriginal Heritage Office.

The Aboriginal Heritage Office is an award-winning partnership of six local Sydney Councils working to protect Aboriginal sites and promote Aboriginal history and heritage in each of Councils’ areas. The AHO’s activities are based on three main areas: site management, Council support and education.

The AHO provides assistance to partner Councils and residents to help protect Aboriginal sites in the area. Site management plans and inspections, site conservation works and monitoring as well as strategic planning issues and Council staff training advice.

The AHO provides presentations, walks, talks and other activities for the local community in a program designed to inform people about the Aboriginal history and heritage of the local area and how to view the local landscape from an Indigenous perspective.
