About the Training

This is one day, in-person training, taking place from 9:30am-4:30pm on Wednesday 20 May at the Fairfield Youth and Community Centre.

NYSF training supports participants to gain the skills and confidence to understand refugee, migrant and asylum-seeking experiences to better support young people from humanitarian backgrounds.

Who is this training for

Youth Workers, educators, not-for-profit community workers or any other workers from organisations supporting the wellbeing of young people aged 12-24 in Fairfield and Southwestern Sydney are eligible to participate.

This training is tailored for the Fairfield region and the Fairfield Youth Workers Network (FYWN). The Fairfield LGA has been one of the largest regions for resettlement of young people from an refugee and asylum seeking background for decades, shaping what Youth Work looks like in this region.

Note: participants do not need to be part of the FYWN to participate, but they should deliver services in Fairfield and Southwestern Sydney.

The Multicultural Youth Affairs Network of NSW (MYAN NSW) is a state-wide multicultural youth specialist organisation. They support hundreds of young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds to settle and thrive in Australia each year, and their vision is for all multicultural young people to be connected, influential, and active participants of Australian public life.

MYAN NSW also provide sector leadership through training, development of resources, and advocacy to strengthen the sector and inform government policy at state and national levels.
