Re-fresh your wardrobe and keep clothes out of landfill
Everyone welcome!
Bring along 5–10 clean, good quality items to swap for new to you pieces, reduce textile waste, and support a circular fashion economy.
Come along, get involved, and support youth empowerment, sustainability, and cost of living relief, all while refreshing your wardrobe in an eco friendly way!
Coast Swap is a youth led event, supported by Global Skills, and part of Council’s Launch Lab program.
This event is designed with young people and powered by youth volunteers, however it is open for the whole community to attend. It’s a chance for everyone to come along, get involved, and actively support local young people as they step into leadership, build skills, and contribute to their community.
Participants can bring five to ten clean, good-quality, undamaged garments and accessories they would be happy to give to a friend. Items are exchanged without money, you swap the clothes you bring for new-to-you pieces from the collective pool. The goal is to refresh your wardrobe sustainably, reduce textile waste, and support a circular fashion economy.
Before the swap
• Check your items: Ensure all clothes, shoes, and accessories are clean, free of stains, rips, or missing buttons, and in excellent, ‘giftable’ condition.
• Avoid specific items: Underwear, used pyjamas, socks or overused workout gear.
• Consider quality and style: You can bring retro, vintage, handmade, or items from all brands, but focus on items that are versatile and generally desirable.
• Drop off items: Bring your items to the event for check-in at 11am. Arriving on time will ensure access to most items.
• Start swapping: You can begin selecting new-to-you items from the collective offering, using your brought items as "currency" which you will receive tokens for.
Note: As donated items vary within the collective pool there's no guarantee that you will find the same number of items you brought in.
• Sustainability: The core idea is to reduce fashion waste and the environmental impact of fast fashion.
• Circular economy: Swapping promotes the reuse of clothing, giving items a second life and fostering a circular fashion economy.
• Community: Swaps create a space for people to connect, share style tips, and build community around sustainable living and conscious consumption.
• Cost of Living: Support our community with cost-of-living challenges.
Coast Swap, supported by Global Skills, is part of Council’s Launch Lab program that focuses on employment readiness and life skills for Central Coast youth. Coast Swap is designed and powered by local youth volunteers and aims to build youth skills, confidence and community pride.
