'Land Down Under' Paintings by Erika Beck FRAS

About this event

Influenced by Australia's varied landscapes, Erika Beck’s work highlights impressive vistas, rugged coastlines, and tranquil bushland. The interplay of light, colour, natural beauty, wildflowers, and native flora consistently informs her artistic approach, inviting audiences to engage directly with these remarkable environments.

Each piece created by Erika Beck is inspired by a specific location she has personally explored during her career, providing viewers with an insightful perspective on the richness and diversity of Australia's natural scenery.

Join Erika as she travels through Australia with fellow artists, visiting places like Kimberley, Tasmania, Kangaroo Island, the Barrier Reef, and her home in Mosman, New South Wales. Erika has a unique connection to Beauty Point and Middle Harbour, where she often painted Sydney’s natural landscapes. Her 22nd solo exhibition, this show at Bathers’ Pavilion, Balmoral, holds special significance for her.

Erika explains that for some remote locations obtaining permission from the Traditional Owners to camp and paint on their land made the experience even more meaningful. She says: “I want to acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land, the beauty and spirit of which provides so much artistic inspiration.”
