Living Smart Festival
About this event
Held on the traditional lands of the Awabakal People, the Living Smart Festival is one of Australia’s largest community sustainability events, with a mission to encourage people to learn about and embrace everyday sustainability practices. Lake Macquarie’s largest free community event, the Living Smart Festival, now in its 15th year, is on Saturday 19 September at Speers Point Park. This flagship event attracts more than 15,000 attendees to our region.
The relaxed festival vibe encourages visitors to engage with local artists, taste local produce from a variety of food trucks, and interact with many of the activities provided for the event from the local community.
The 2025 event was headlined by Dr Karl Kruszelnicki. Renowned for spreading the good word of science for more than 30 years, and the author of 48 books, Dr Karl is passionate about climate change and shared his wisdom at the event. In addition, the day hosted free workshops, demonstrations, market stalls and presentations.
