Long Story Short: Writing Workshop for Youth

About this event

Can you tell a big story in only a few words?

This workshop for writers aged 12-16 is all about keeping things short. From haiku to flash fiction, learn how to capture a moment, describe character, build tiny worlds and cram the most story into the least words.

All levels of writing experience welcome.

Participants are encouraged to bring a pen and notebook or device for notetaking.

This program is part of the annual Youth Takeover. Each July school holidays, the library works with young people to co-create exciting, youth-led workshops, empowering them to design and deliver programs for young people.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR:

Gabi Cadenhead is a poet and composer with eight years of experience in creative education. Their writing has been published in Cordite Poetry Review, #EnbyLife Journal and Sunder Journal, and longlisted for Queensland Writers Centre’s Publishable program.
