NAIDOC Week movie: Ten Canoes

In recognition of NAIDOC Week, Ku-ring-gai Library will be screening the film 'Ten Canoes', widely acclaimed as a groundbreaking and unique masterpiece of Australian cinema and praised for its authentic portrayal of Yolngu culture.

Set in Australia’s Northern Territory, it tells a story of people and land. Following an older man, Minygululu with his three wives, he realises his younger brother Dayindi may try to steal his youngest bride.

The wholly indigenous cast includes Crusoe Kurddal and legendary actor David Gulpilil. Written by Rolf de Heer, it was directed by him and Peter Djiggirr.

This film is rated M for a mature audience.
