About this event
NATURE OUTING — TURTLES & THE CORAL SEA
What lives beneath the waves right off our coastline? Come and find out! We're heading to Eimeo Beach for a special morning with a marine biologist from the Healthy Rivers to Reef Partnership, who will bring the underwater world of the Mackay region to life — from the coral reefs offshore to the sea turtles that call these waters home.
The presentation by the marine biologist will be aimed at 8-15 yr olds, with a short talk and fun hands-on activities for younger children aged 4-7 yrs.
On the morning: — Learn about the coral reef ecosystems right on our doorstep and what makes them so extraordinary — Discover the sea turtles of the Mackay region — their life cycle, where they nest, and the threats they face — Find out how what happens on land affects what happens on the reef — and what we can all do about it — Time for kids to ask questions of a real, working marine biologist!
