Nature Play with Aunty Suzie
About this event
We have special guest Susan Moylan-Coombs joining us an Indigenous Nature Play. Come along to Aunty Time where we will sing some song, listen to some story and make something to take home.
Our Nature Play programs offer weekly nature-themed activities, designed to develop curious minds and playful spirits. They involve a fun morning of play-based investigation and discovery in nature led by our experienced Environmental Education Rangers. Activities cost $25 per child with one parent/carer admitted free of charge.
Bookings are essential as spaces are limited. For more information visit our Nature Play page.
Nature play significantly improves all aspects of early childhood development – physical, cognitive, social and emotional. Playing outdoors in nature grows resilience, self-confidence, initiative and gross-motor skills.
Set on 154 hectares of urban Sydney Sandstone bushland at St Ives and adjacent to Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden boasts some of Sydney’s best Wildflower trails, Duffys Forrest and Coastal Upland Swamp as well as 18 threatened species of Australian Flora and Fauna and 2 endangered ecological communities providing learning experiences in the natural environment.
Susan Moylan-Coombs’ ancestry is from one of the oldest surviving living cultures on this planet. She is a Woolwonga Gurindji woman from the Northern Territory and was taken at birth from her parents, who were also removed as part of the former government policies; these children are today known as the Stolen Generations.
