Nature School - Bush detectives
About this event
This month at Nature School, students will be exploring our wonderful Eucalyptus Forest and learning about the important role it plays for both animals and people. Rangers will guide students in developing their observation skills through a “Bush Detectives” activity, encouraging them to closely investigate the forest environment and understand the connections between plants and animals. Students will learn to identify animal tracks, feeding signs, scats and habitat tree features.
Students will also take part in an invertebrate hunt, where they will record their discoveries in nature journals using sketches and tally marks to collect data.
To build mindfulness and awareness of their surroundings, students will spend quiet time in the forest practising stillness and careful listening. They will create a sound map using words, symbols, or drawings to show the different sounds they can hear and where they are coming from, building a clear picture of interconnections within the environment.
