🔥 Campfire Connections – Welcome to the Farm

A warm and relaxed introduction to the term. Children will explore the farm, meet and feed our animals, discover our permaculture systems, and build new friendships as they settle into the Animal Care Club. We’ll finish by gathering around the campfire to enjoy hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows while getting to know one another.

Week 2

Children will learn that healthy animals need healthy food. We’ll explore the different foods eaten by chickens, ducks, quails, rabbits and goats and discover how farmers can grow nutritious animal fodder. Together we'll sow seeds that will be grown and planted out later in the term to help feed our farm animals.

🐐 Goat Care, Baby Goats & Enrichment

Children will learn how to care for goats, including our newborn baby goats. We’ll feed, groom and observe our goats while learning to perform simple health checks. Together we'll brush the goats, help muck out the stable and create enrichment treats and activities that keep our goats healthy, happy and entertained.

Week 4

🐓🍳 From Farm to Plate – Farm Fresh Cooking

Children will learn where food comes from and explore the journey from animal care to the food we eat. We’ll discuss ethical food production, animal welfare and respecting the animals that help feed us while collecting fresh eggs from our chickens, harvesting vegetables from the garden and preparing a simple farm-fresh meal together in the bush kitchen.

Week 5

📅 Monday 24th August

🐣 Hatching Chicks – The Miracle of Life

Children will learn how eggs develop into chicks and explore the incubation process. We’ll candle fertile eggs to observe embryo development, discuss the different stages of chick growth and prepare our incubator as we begin our chicken hatching project.
