Patchwork Quilting for Teens with Jacqueline Curry

About this event

In this hands on workshop students will create their own patchwork block. The patchwork block will be hand-sewn using specific quilting needles mastering the classic straight-seam method used to join pieces together. In the workshop the students will discover the importance of fabric choice in terms of weight, colour and pattern direction. The workshop also covers the choice of fabrics and threads they will learn how to mix and match fabrics to achieve an effective colour balance. They will learn skills in safely cutting with a quilters rule and a rotary cutters to get perfectly sized patched pieces. Students will also be shown how to design their own patchwork blocks for future projects - drafting onto grid paper. If your teen is coming and going independently, please complete the waiver giving permission for them to leave at the end of the class. Please note: Students are required to remain on-site during their lunch and morning tea breaks If enrolled for the full day students are provided with a supervised lunch break.
