Reading Buddies

About this event

Does your school-aged child struggle with reading out loud or lack confidence? Our Reading Buddies program is here to help! Therapy dogs create a safe, supportive space for children to practice reading aloud without fear of judgment. Research shows that therapy dogs can help improve literacy skills, boost confidence, and make reading more enjoyable.

Each 20-minute session offers one-on-one reading time with a trained therapy dog in a cozy, private space in the library. A dog handler remains in the room throughout the session; parents are welcome to stay and enjoy the experience as well.

Sessions run on the first Saturday of every month, and children can bring a favourite book from home or choose one from the library collection.
